Microbiologist

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an entry-level microbiologist to gain hands‑on laboratory and production floor experience. The Microbiologist performs daily environmental monitoring, supports lab assistants, collects samples from the production floor, conducts microbiological testing, and reviews and validates data and reports. The position emphasizes aseptic technique, accurate documentation, and strong organizational skills in a regulated microbiology laboratory environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine environmental monitoring activities, including sampling and testing in accordance with established microbiology procedures.
  • Support lab assistants by providing technical guidance, coordinating daily tasks, and assisting with laboratory workflows as needed.
  • Go onto the production floor to collect samples from designated areas, equipment, and processes for microbiological analysis.
  • Conduct microbiological testing on collected samples using appropriate aseptic techniques and laboratory methods.
  • Document all laboratory activities, test results, and observations clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Gather, compile, and organize test reports and related documentation for review and record‑keeping.
  • Review and validate microbiological data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal procedures.
  • Follow sterilization and decontamination procedures to maintain a clean and controlled microbiology laboratory environment.
  • Adhere to environmental monitoring schedules and ensure that all required sampling and testing are completed on time.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate sampling activities and share test results.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and work areas in an orderly and safe condition.
  • Comply with all laboratory safety guidelines, standard operating procedures, and quality standards.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or Biology.
  • Academic coursework in biology and microbiology with demonstrated participation in laboratory classes or practical lab work.
  • Foundational knowledge of microbiology principles, including microbial growth, contamination control, and sterilization.
  • Experience or training in environmental monitoring within a microbiology or related laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency in aseptic technique to prevent contamination during sampling and testing.
  • Ability to work in a microbiology laboratory environment and follow standard microbiological methods.
  • Strong written communication skills for clear and accurate documentation of test results and laboratory activities.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with lab assistants, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent documentation skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, samples, and reports in a timely manner.

Work Environment
