About This Position
The Safety & Security Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations to maintain a safe and secure environment for customers, visitors, and team members. The supervisor coordinates activities and daily tasks of safety and security officers and surveillance personnel. They act as a positive role model, working collaboratively with the team, guiding team members through the formal improvement process, and implementing disciplinary actions to improve quality and performance.
The supervisor plays a crucial role in creating a safe, secure, and supportive environment for patients, visitors, staff, and assets within the daily operations of a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role assists the Security Manager in strategic planning and overall management of the Security Department and Surveillance staff, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and quality production standards.
The supervisor leads, mentors, and develops a team of security officers and dispatchers, ensuring prompt responses to various security incidents and emergency situations in a high‑volume trauma setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Must satisfactorily complete a defensive tactics course within six months of employment, or have documented equivalent training within the past twelve months.
- 3+ years healthcare security supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to manage execution and motivate teams to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Law enforcement and/or private security management experience leading and developing staff and safety and security programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Life Safety Code.
- Military duty may be considered to meet experience requirement.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions based on fact.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with disruptive situations in line with medical center policy.
- Current Class D driver’s license in state of residency with acceptable driving record.
- Must be qualified by North Memorial Health Care Department of Transportation to operate hospital vehicles (NMHC Standard).
