This role ensures the consistent, accurate, and fair application of warranty policies and procedures across a large dealer network. The Dealer Auditor plays a critical role in safeguarding compliance and integrity while partnering with both dealership and corporate stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
This is a high impact, field based role with significant travel and visibility across the dealer network. Responsibilities
- Perform audits of dealer warranty claim submissions through detailed review of repair order documentation
- Initiate chargebacks for warranty noncompliance in accordance with established policies
- Prepare, deliver, and maintain all audit related communications, including notification letters and audit result reports, in compliance with document retention requirements
- Analyze warranty KPIs and claim submission patterns to identify trends, risks, and potential noncompliance early
- Conduct root cause analysis of recurring audit findings and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain ongoing communication with dealership management, regional operations, and corporate teams to ensure compliance with warranty and dealer policy manuals
- Provide training and guidance to dealership and internal personnel to improve warranty compliance
- Support broader dealer network initiatives, including facility inspections and internal audit projects
- Utilize data analytics to predict, monitor, and improve dealer compliance in warranty related activities
- Bachelor s degree
- 5 7+ years of combined experience, including:
- Automotive retail experience with strong knowledge of dealership processes, particularly fixed operations
- Automotive technical experience, including diagnostic and repair procedures and technical information systems
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (O365 and online collaboration tools)
- Solid understanding of the franchised dealership business model
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and detail oriented skillset
- Knowledge of risk management, control objectives, and automated/manual controls
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage sensitive conversations, resolve differing perspectives, and build trust with internal and external stakeholders
- Flexible and adaptable in a changing business environment
- Prior audit experience (financial, compliance, operational, or dealership/franchise)
- Experience with automotive OEM dealership management systems
- Experience working with highly automated or digital audit processes (e.g., remote audits, claims processing tools, optical recognition software)
- Experience authoring or implementing policies, procedures, or technical requirements
- Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or PMP
