Fleet - Mechanic

MN Star Tribune is seeking to hire a full‑time Mechanic for our Fleet Department.

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to the trucks (light and heavy) and cargo vans.
  • Disassemble and overhaul motors, transmissions, rear ends, electrical systems, and all other assemblies.
  • The Mechanic works with a high degree of independence.
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Maintain vehicle records and complete necessary documents
• Answer road calls from drivers
• Review driver’s daily inspection slips (pre-trip & post-trip)
• The schedule includes nights and weekends

• Preferred:
  Driver’s license: CDL‑A or CDL‑B
• Mechanical knowledge of gas, propane, and diesel repair
• Experience with hydraulic and air brake systems
• Knowledge of internal combustible engines
• Proficient in using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers
• ASE Certification/Technical School a plus, but it’s not required.
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus, but it’s not required.

Starting pay:
union position with a starting pay of $33.96
