Our client is a growing sitework contractor seeking an experienced Foreman to lead field crews on underground utility and civil construction projects. This role is responsible for overseeing daily pipe crew operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience installing underground utilities including storm, sanitary sewer, and water lines, while also leading crews in the field and maintaining production schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead underground utility pipe crews on civil/sitework projects
- Coordinate daily activities, manpower, equipment, and materials on‑site
- Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and utility plans
- Oversee installation of storm drain, sanitary sewer, waterline, and related underground utilities
- Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce OSHA/company safety procedures
- Communicate with Superintendents, Project Managers, inspectors, and subcontractors
- Monitor productivity and address field issues proactively
- Perform utility layout, grade checks, and verify elevations as needed
- Train and mentor crew members in proper installation methods and safety practices
- 3+ years of underground utility/sitework experience
- Previous experience leading pipe crews as a Foreman or Lead
- Strong knowledge of underground utility installation methods and site development
- Ability to read blueprints, grades, and utility plans
- Experience working around heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, and trenching equipment
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and trench safety requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
- Experience with large‑scale commercial, municipal, or residential site development projects
- CDL license (preferred but not required)
- Experience with laser levels, GPS, or grading equipment
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Stable pipeline of sitework and underground utility projects
