* The Mechanic performs scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to the trucks (light and heavy) and cargo vans.
* Disassembles and overhauls motors, transmissions, rear ends, electrical systems, and all other assemblies.
* The Mechanic works with a high degree of independence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Diagnose failures
* Perform preventative maintenance
* Maintain vehicle records and completes necessary documents
* Answer road calls from drivers
* Review driver's daily inspection slips (pre-trip & post-trip)
* The schedule includes nights and weekends
Qualifications:
* MUST - Driver's license: CDL - A or CDL - B
* Mechanical knowledge of gas, propane, and diesel repair
* Experience with hydraulic and air brake systems
* Knowledge of internal combustible engines
* Proficient in using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computer
* ASE Certification/Technical School a plus, but it's not required.
* Welding and fabrication experience is a plus, but it's not required.
Schedule:
40-hour work week
Starting pay:
This is a union position with a starting pay of $33.96
* Mechanic offers are contingent on the successful completion of a pre-employment physical, pre-employment drug screen, pre-employment employment verification, and pre-employment criminal background check.
