The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing the install, maintenance, and repair of low-voltage wiring systems, including security systems, fire alarms, and network wiring, in commercial buildings. This work involves pulling, terminating, and dressing cables, as well as installing related hardware like racks and patch panels.

Key Responsibilities:

Installing various low-voltage cables and wires, including Ethernet, fiber optic, coax, and other specialized cables used in security, audio-visual, and communication systems.

Properly terminating cables and connecting them to appropriate hardware like patch panels, connecting blocks, and enclosures.

Pulling cables through conduits, cable trays, and other pathways, ensuring they are neatly dressed and labeled for proper identification.

Installing racks, backboards, patch panels, and other related hardware necessary for a functioning network.

Testing installed systems to ensure they function correctly and troubleshooting issues to resolve problems.

Maintaining documentation of installed systems, including cable runs, wiring diagrams, and system configurations.

Interpreting blueprints and schematics to understand building layouts and project requirements.

Working with other tradespeople, including electricians and general contractors, to ensure smooth project execution.

Providing excellent customer service and communicating effectively with clients about system operation and maintenance.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in low-voltage wiring practices, cable termination techniques, and troubleshooting electronic systems.

Ability to communicate effectively with clients, other technicians, and contractors.

Ability to identify and solve technical problems encountered during installation and maintenance.

Ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and work in confined spaces.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

Familiarity with basic maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and aspects of carpentry and construction.

Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients.

Adherence to OSHA safety standards and familiarity with safe working practices.
