Job Overview
The City of Golden Valley is seeking a motivated and dedicated Utility Maintenance Worker I to join our Public Works team. This position will perform a wide range of routine and complex work involving the operation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and construction of the City's water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems.
This position will also support broader Public Works operations, including snow and ice control, emergency response activities, and maintenance projects across multiple divisions.

Minimum Qualifications- 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid MN Commercial Class B driver's license, with tanker and air break endorsements, or ability to obtain within 12 months of start date.
- Ability to operate computer.
- Ability to operate equipment, acquire licenses, and complete trainings required for this position.
- Ability to complete the essential duties and responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Experience in construction or maintenance of a utility system, or equivalent training in a vocational or technical program.
- Experience working in other divisions of municipal Public Works (Streets, Parks, Vehicle Maintenance).
- Experience working with an asset management software program.
- Valid MDH Class D Water Operator license or higher.
- Valid MPCA Class S-D Wastewater Operator license or higher.
- Valid MN Commercial Class A driver's license.

Work is most often conducted outdoors, often under adverse and extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hazardous conditions, including operating power tools and equipment, and toxic materials, including raw sewage and hot asphalt. Employee is subject to noise while operating equipment and general noises in outdoor city environments.

- Regularly read and interpret documents and other written material.
- Regularly communicate and exchange information with others in person, over the telephone, and using written communication methods.
- Regularly remain in a stationary position and regularly move within the building to attend meetings and access machinery.
- Frequently operate both heavy and light equipment/tools consistently found in public city street operations and maintenance and/or construction.
- Frequently push/pull equipment and objects, traverse around the city, climb ladders, ditches and manholes, and move within confined spaces.
- Regularly operate computers, radios, and mobile devices.
- Frequently move or transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.
