Position: Master Electrician / System Tech

Job Description

The Master Electrician (ME) is responsible for assisting in the warehouse with the preparation and de‑preparation of shows, as well as the daily upkeep of the shop and its lighting and heavy power inventory. The ME ensures the return of all lighting/power and reports any damaged equipment to the Warehouse Team. They are also responsible for completing any repairs that can be handled in‑house and coordinating with our preferred vendors for equipment that cannot be repaired internally.

The ME will work with project managers and contractors to ensure the correct equipment is deployed for each show, as well as perform any necessary pre‑programming to allow for efficient on‑site deployment. They will adhere to Sightlines’ standards and practices for show preparation prior to deployment and proper de‑preparation once equipment is returned to the shop.

The position is hourly, nonexempt, full‑time, in‑person. It predominantly works in a warehouse or show site environment and involves physically moving heavy equipment. The role must stand for long periods and lift 50lbs with assistance. Local travel and occasional driving of company vehicles are required; nationwide travel is an opportunity but not required. The Master Electrician / System Tech reports to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, test, and package lighting and power equipment for live events, ensuring all gear is show‑ready and functioning properly.
  • De‑prep equipment returned from events, inspecting, cleaning, and documenting any damage or missing items.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs on lighting and power equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse Team to report damaged or malfunctioning gear and recommend repair or replacement needs.
  • Manage inventory by accurately checking equipment in and out and maintaining organized storage areas.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring equipment is safely packed and secured for transport.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall upkeep of the warehouse and work areas.
  • Work with approved vendors and service providers for repairs that cannot be completed in‑house.
  • Support event operations as needed, including on‑site technical assistance or setup.
  • Operate forklift and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Follow safety procedures and company standards to ensure a safe working environment and protect equipment assets.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundational knowledge of electricity and electrical principles, with the ability to apply them in live event and production environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical work, including installation, wiring, and power distribution for temporary and permanent systems.
  • Proficiency in maintenance & repair of electrical and show control equipment, including routine inspections and preventive upkeep.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving electrical, system, and integration issues under time‑sensitive conditions.
  • Background in electrical engineering concepts or related technical training applicable to complex event systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical codes, safety regulations, and best practices for live events and public spaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and load diagrams, and to communicate requirements to non‑technical team members.
  • Comfort working in fast‑paced, physically active environments, including lifting, working at heights, and extended hours during event days.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, with a commitment to safety, reliability, and high‑quality event delivery.
