Hourly Wage

Work HoursThe work hours for this position are Monday‑Friday plus weekends, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm.
Key PurposeThe Building Engineer reports directly to the Site Operations Manager to ensure all facility‑related equipment is maintained to the highest standards in the Hard Services line. The role involves solving complex (integrated and multi‑system) maintenance and repair of a building’s shell, core, and equipment, executing a best‑practice preventative and reactive maintenance program, and resolving immediate operational and/or building safety concerns.
The Building Engineer utilizes advanced skills (general and trade specific) to perform complex preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds. Working under limited supervision, the Engineer monitors building system operations, performs self‑performance of trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, refrigeration, heating, and cooling, and serves as a point of contact for clients, responding to escalations and communicating professionally.

- Support the Technical Services Team and report to the Site Operations Manager
- Communicate effectively with colleagues within the Business Unit and across the company to disseminate information and participate in project groups and meetings as required
- 5+ years of experience in Operations & Maintenance, Construction, Facilities Maintenance and/or Building Engineering roles
- High school diploma or vocational or trade school/college required
- EPA Universal/608 Certification
- Strong knowledge of Work Order Control procedures and time management to work within CMMS systems
- Experience with subcontractor and vendor contract management
- Experience with managing key performance indicators as provided by Site Operations Manager
- Ability to use specialty hand tools, diagnostic tools, and knowledge of maintenance shop practices at the Journeyman level (Electrical and Mechanical Equipment systems)
- Basic computer proficiency skills (Word, Outlook, CMMS Systems, Smartphone Systems)
- Work independently and as part of a team, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Perform inspection, maintenance and repair of the building’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, control systems, and HVAC systems
- Perform refrigerant handling associated with HVAC repairs
- Perform minor electrical tasks such as bulb replacement, ballast replacement, and troubleshooting
- Plumbing fixture/drain repair and maintenance
- Inspect and preventive maintenance of café/kitchen equipment
- Manage and support maintenance of elevators, fire life safety systems, and UPSs
- Repair/adjust access doors and overhead doors as required
- Ensure the CMMS system is up to date with accurate data on assets and maintenance programs
- Inspect and diagnose problems using blueprints, OEM repair manuals, and parts catalogs
- Partner with contractors and vendors to safely complete maintenance and specific scopes of work, ensuring proper safety precautions
- Provide data for reports and equipment evaluations or scopes of work for outside contractors
- Direct equipment and system operational modifications such as critical switching, lockout/tagout, and safe work‑area setup
- Follow 5S principles for organization and cleanliness of front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house areas
- Order supplies for preventive and reactive maintenance and manage tool crib inventory to meet SLAs
- Obtain and compare estimates for work performed by outside vendors
- Adjust doors and closers, repair T‑bar drop ceilings, and replace ceiling tiles
- Perform visual roof inspections and minor repairs as needed
- Handle general maintenance tech duties assigned by Site Operations Management team
