Air Reserve Technician
Job DescriptionThe primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), technical authority responsible for coordinating the work of other journey-level workers to perform/advise scheduled or unscheduled inspections, repairs, replacements, troubleshoot, documentation, build-up and tear down, flightline maintenance and operational runs of aircraft propulsion systems installed or uninstalled, and to provide training to all assigned reservist personnel as required in the accomplishment of duties set forth herein.
Duties:Duty 1: Serves as technical authority to perform/coordinate/oversee troubleshooting and analysis of gas turbine engines to determine air worthiness of propulsion systems installed on aircraft on the flight-line and uninstalled in back shop and test cell capacities. Coordinates, oversees and performs the disassembly, repair, overhaul, inspection and reassembly of aircraft propulsion systems, sub-assemblies, and components.
Duty 2: Skilled/certified in the operation and maintenance of diagnostic test equipment, on-board electronic equipment, a variety of special equipment, hand, measurement and power tools. Enforces and complies with safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
Duty 3: Certify, utilize and enforce the work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program and applicable commercial aircraft/propulsion manuals. Removes or installs entire propulsion systems from/on aircraft, test cells, and maintenance stands working as a member or leader of a team.
Duty 4: Maintains, inspects, operates, and certifies test cell and hush house. Performs Engine Health Management (EHM) program duties and properly documents propulsion system maintenance in historical records and the Maintenance Info (MIS).
Duty 5: Prepares effective training plans to maximize training for assigned personnel. Complies with required instruction, guidance, and/or training and provides instruction training to others. Also plans work schedules for reservists assigned to the function to ensure exposure to the full range of journeyman duties of the trade.
