ELECTRICIAN Security Clearance

Position: ELECTRICIAN with Security Clearance
Duties - Installs, repairs or replaces, modifies, loads, and tests new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures.

- Troubleshoots problem areas and inspects for defective equipment and faulty wiring.

- Uses and maintains various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines.

- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
* Must possess and maintain a valid operator's license in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites.
* Emergency overtime may be required.
* May work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste. Employee will be required to wear protective clothing and gear on these occasions.
* The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are:
Makes repairs from work stands and other hard-to-reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
* Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2800, Electrical Installation and Maintenance Group.. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
2. Knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of complete systems.
3. Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices, and of electrical equipment, i.e., test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, watt meters, ohmeters, and ammeters.
4. Skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders.
5. Skill in troubleshooting and tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.
6. Ability to use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams and to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment without more than normal supervision. Physical Effort:
