The Maintenance Worker provides a variety of skilled maintenance work to support Public Works to ensure the safety and security of County residents and visitors.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
  • Experience building, widening, or resurfacing roads and trails, including grading, patching, shouldering, and placing bituminous or concrete pavement
  • Experience operating heavy equipment used in roadway maintenance — tandem dump truck with wing and plow, road grader, loader, backhoe, dozer, or shoulder machine
  • Experience with drainage maintenance, including ditching, culvert replacement, and clearing debris from culverts and ditches
  • Experience setting up work zone traffic control in conformance with the MMUTCD
  • Current Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, 5th wheel, and manual transmission
  • Experience in snow and ice control operations including plowing and applying anti-icing and deicing materials
SELECTION TECHNIQUE

Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

HOURS / DAYS

7:00 am - 3:30pm / Monday – Friday / 40 hours per week. Work, schedules (hours and days) are subject to change based on department needs.

ANTICIPATED PAY RATE

$27.31 - $32.69 Hourly

The Maintenance Worker provides a variety of skilled maintenance work to support Public Works to ensure the safety and security of County residents and visitors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent and three-years of full-time work experience in highway/road or parks maintenance that included the operation of various types of motorized equipment, or equivalent experience.

Requires possession of a current and valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake designation. Must obtain and maintain a Class “A” CDL with 5th wheel Tractor-Trailer, Manual Transmission and Tanker Vehicle endorsement, within six months of employment.
