FTE: Full-Time, Hourly

Pay Range: $25.98/hour

Reports To: Housing Manager

Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center (MIWRC) is a non-profit social and mental health services organization committed to traditional ways of being and support of Native women and their families. Founded in 1984, MIWRC provides a broad range of programs designed to educate and empower Native women and their families, and to inform and assist those who work providing services to the community.

General description

The Tenant Services Coordinator will be the first point of contact for all tenants and MIWRC Apartments. The role is responsible for providing voluntary services for tenants and supporting case management services.

Responsibilities
  • Actively work to engage residents in MIWRC services and the community.
  • Offer and provide supportive services as described in the service plan, created in collaboration with tenants.
  • Create a weekly newsletter via email to tenants, including property management updates, programs offered at MIWRC and in the community, weekly office hours, and any other announcements.
  • Provide or coordinate voluntary monthly workshops for tenants, tailored to meet specific tenant needs. Topics may include job training, traditional healing, community, and tenant education.
  • Collaborate with the Tenant Case Manager to provide direct services to tenants.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Collect required file documentation and data collection.
  • Perform outreach services to client relatives experiencing housing instability.
  • Respond to other duties as assigned.
  • Note on duties

    In this position, you will be confronted daily with crisis situations affecting the Native American community. This may include individuals who are unhoused or living in extreme poverty, dealing with sexual violence and/or domestic violence, may be sex trafficked, current sex workers, or in active addiction or receiving treatment. MIWRC encourages applicants to have a healthy self-care plan and support team.

    Qualifications
  • Familiarity with the Urban Native Community and/or experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native families.
  • Experience in homeless prevention, rapid rehousing, and/or with families or adults in crisis.
  • Strong case management skills.
  • Strong skills in technology and database management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community-based housing, financial assistance, and other resources.
  • Proficiency in the Hennepin Coordinated Entry System and ability to prepare monthly reports for supervisors while maintaining statistical data.
  • Ability to identify available housing support systems, including emergency shelters, short-term interventions/housing assistance, and permanent housing options.
  • Willingness to attend required training and meetings.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Exemplary professional conduct.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to assist families in finding and maintaining housing.
  • Mediation skills to address landlord-tenant issues.
  • Proficient in multitasking while managing and maintaining housing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability
  • Maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to exemplify professional conduct and ethical standards.
  • Build rapport and trust with tenants.
  • Provide effective communication: interpersonal and listening skills with clients and staff.
  • Work in a cooperative team relationship with MIWRC agency staff, and other agencies to coordinate client services and programming.
  • Perform in a highly multitasking position and maintain professionalism under stressful situations.
  • Must submit to DHS background check.
  • Reporting and supervisory responsibilities

    The Tenant Services Coordinator reports to the Housing Manager.
