Family Support Specialist II

The Family Support Specialist II is responsible for providing comprehensive case management, referrals, and seamless coordination with community and supportive service activities that promote economic self-sufficiency for families, enhance the quality of life for seniors and people with disabilities, and increase opportunities for residents. This role involves collaborating with a team of professionals in various fields to determine suitable approaches and support families in different neighborhoods under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Job responsibilities include conducting intake, assessments, enrolling residents in family support programs, and visiting various locations for resident information gathering. Collaboration with families on Development Plans, assistance in accessing social services, advocacy for service delivery for up to 100 individuals, ensuring privacy, tracking resident data in USI's "LEARN" system, attending community and program-related meetings, availability for occasional nights/weekends, travel up to 25%, performing administrative tasks, providing resources and knowledge for clients to access capital, including loans for financial goals like housing and consumer products, to build credit, reduce debt, and support wealth growth through entrepreneurship, offering consultation services in financial management and goal-setting, hosting in-person and virtual seminars for clients seeking financial literacy management resources and capital access, and supporting and promoting the development of the USI CDFI client base.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or related field, 3+ years of experience as a case manager or in direct practice with low-income households; health services experience a plus, valid driver's license and automobile availability for work use, commitment to strengths-based, family-focused service planning and understanding of program philosophies, ability to handle confidential information professionally, independent and proactive work ethics, with strong team collaboration skills, availability for evening and weekend functions as required, strong verbal and written communication skills for diverse communities, effective real-time priority management, excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills, ability to excel in fast-paced, culturally diverse environments, and proficiency in MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel) and other common software.
