Position Title

Part-time Sensitive Parenting Support Home Visitor

Compensation (Pay/Benefits)

Schedule

Part time, 12 hours a week (variable hours)

Location

Home visits for this role conducted in Scott County. Primary office space available at the Scott County Family Resource Center (Shakopee). Weekly in‑person team meetings are held at the Minneapolis Nicollet Center office. Some hybrid work flexibility available.

Program Summary

Sensitive Parenting Support home visiting includes:

  • Emotional support for the challenges of parenting, including those related to mental health
  • Developmental guidance to help parents understand how their child is growing, learning, and behaving
  • Insight into how a parent's own history and life experiences may impact their relationship with their child
  • Connections to community resources that support family stability and success
  • Advocacy to ensure families receive the services they need
Position Overview

The Sensitive Parenting Support Home Visitor provides relationship-based home visiting services to parents navigating significant mental health challenges during pregnancy and early childhood (ages 0-4). Grounded in the Attachment Biobehavioral Catch‑up (ABC) model, this role supports the parent‑child relationship, promotes healthy child development, and enhances overall family well‑being. The Home Visitor partners with families through individualized visits focusing on building parent capacity and reducing stressors.

Key responsibilities include planning and delivering home visits, maintaining fidelity to the ABC model, completing timely and accurate documentation, and participating in reflective supervision and team collaboration.

Job Qualifications

Education
:
Bachelor's degree in human services, child development, public health or related field. Infant Mental Health Endorsement (preferred)

Experience
:
Minimum of 4000 hours (2-year, full time) of supervised experience in mental health and/or developmental services with children and/or families. Demonstrated skill in working with parents and young children in a home-based setting (preferred).

Screening
:
Prior to hire, eligible candidates must pass a brief, evidence‑based screening conducted remotely by the ABC Parenting Institute. Successful completion is required to be considered for training and service delivery in the SPS program.

Skills/Abilities
:
Ability to build and maintain relationships; self‑awareness; curiosity; sound judgment; ability to communicate effectively; empathy and compassion. Ability to learn and implement video technology as required by ABC model.
