As a Student Support Intervention and Resources Specialist you will be responsible for developing and supporting district intervention programs and resources. You will provide professional development, technical assistance, and resource coordination to district-level School Safety and Crisis Response Teams (SSCRT) and consultation, while supporting the development and implementation of statewide Behavior Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) protocols and practices. This role requires a licensed mental health professional who possesses knowledge and experience with trauma-informed school crisis intervention and response practices.

This position is situated on a crisis management team (violence prevention, student support intervention, and crisis response) and will serve as the intervention role on this team.

Telework

This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Employees living within 50 miles of the office location listed above will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. Employees may reside outside the state of Minnesota if they live in a state bordering Minnesota and are within 50 miles of the primary work location. Existing employees who were approved to telework from a bordering state and more than 50 miles from their work location before June 1, 2025, may retain this arrangement unless they move farther away.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years as a licensed mental health professional providing mental health, behavioral health, crisis intervention, school safety, or student-support services in a K-12 setting.

Experience must include:

  • Applying trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate practices when supporting children, youth, families, and school communities.
  • Assessing behavioral and/or mental health concerns and implementing appropriate interventions, services, and/or supports.
  • Providing professional development to adults in behavioral threat assessments, crisis response best practices, and evidence-based behavioral health interventions.
  • Leading or managing system-wide crisis intervention, de-escalation, trauma-informed care, and behavioral health interventions.
  • Experience developing, implementing and/or evaluating Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management programs.

A Doctorate degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience;
Master's degree may substitute for 18 months of experience;
Bachelor's degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience; and an Associate's degree may substitute for six (6) months of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing direct mental health assessment, crisis intervention, safety planning, and case consultation.
  • Experience working in or directly supporting in a K-12 setting or state education agency.
  • Experience integrating behavioral threat assessment findings with tiered mental health interventions, school-linked behavioral health services, or a Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
