Develop community connections, youth engagement, intervention and violence prevention and mediation strategies for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) as part of the Street Reach outreach team. Promote safe and welcoming environments in Minneapolis parks and neighborhoods. Engage adults and youth, build mentoring relationships with adults and youth with high-risk factors including exposure to neighborhood violence, poverty, or low income, highly mobile or homeless, substance use or abuse, or gang exposure or involvement.
RequiredSkills & Amabilities
- Two years of experience working directly with youth, adults, teens, and families in community settings
- Two years of experience working with homelessness population
- Must pass a background check and have driver’s license
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with a diverse community using courtesy, tact, and good judgement.
- Work independently with general supervision.
- Ability to outside in all types of weather conditions.
- Seeking
- Spanish and English Speaking Applicates - Ability to perform assigned work independently and responsibly, as well as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and complete physical tasks (lift, carry, pull, etc.)
- Passion for working with inner city youth
- Violence prevention skills and or training
- Crisis Management skills and or training
- Other youth preventive skills or training
- Community focused
$20.53-$23.00 per hour
You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked.
Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.
