The Community Health Liaison will be responsible for enhancing relationships and interactions among community members in White Earth and the University of Minnesota Medical School. This person will plan and implement youth engagement activities within White Earth, with a goal of supporting youth into health careers, and will help ensure the stability and longevity of the University of Minnesota physician team working within the White Earth Indian Health Service.

The Community Health Liaison will be employed through the University of Minnesota's Center of American Indian and Minority Health (CAIMH), with work happening remotely from the University of Minnesota campuses and occurring on the White Earth Reservation. All UMN employees are expected to follow applicable public health and safety procedures.

The Community Health Liaison in White Earth is appointed by and serves at the discretion of the Assistant Director of the Center of American Indian and Minority Health.

• Lead the development and implementation of strategies to establish and sustain collaborative, White Earth community-centered and community-led health workforce and health education partnerships.
• Develop, coordinate, and evaluate community health initiatives within White Earth focused on health promotion, health education, and health workforce development.
• Identify community priorities, barriers, and opportunities and determine appropriate strategies for connecting White Earth community members and youth with University health education and workforce initiatives.
• Serve as a resource and provide guidance and consultation to UMN faculty, staff, and learners regarding culturally responsive and effective engagement with the White Earth community and White Earth Indian Health Service.
• Partner with White Earth community stakeholders, CAIMH educators, faculty, and staff to develop and support educational initiatives across the medical education continuum, including students, residents, fellows, faculty, and program directors.
• Provide expertise and guidance regarding social and structural determinants of health affecting the White Earth community and incorporate this knowledge into educational and engagement initiatives.
• Assess the effectiveness of community engagement strategies and modify approaches as needed to strengthen participation, relationships, and long-term sustainability.
• Support the stability and sustainability of the University of Minnesota physician partnership with the White Earth Indian Health Service by identifying needs, facilitating communication, and coordinating solutions among stakeholders.

• Serve as a primary liaison between White Earth community stakeholders and University partners, facilitating communication, identifying emerging needs, and resolving issues affecting collaborative initiatives.
• Develop and sustain relationships with community leaders, educators, health professionals, University faculty and staff, and other stakeholders supporting CAIMH initiatives.
• Facilitate White Earth community and CAIMH meetings, including identifying priorities, developing agendas, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring appropriate follow-through.
• Represent CAIMH in weekly White Earth programmatic meetings and other education, project, and stakeholder meetings.
• Translate community priorities and feedback into recommendations for CAIMH leadership regarding programs, partnerships, and engagement strategies.
• Promote an inclusive, culturally responsive, antiracist, and equitable learning environment for University learners engaging with the White Earth community.

• Develop and implement approaches for evaluating community engagement activities and educational programming.
• Analyze feedback from community events, learners, and stakeholders to identify opportunities for program improvement and inform future initiatives.
• Develop educational content and resources supporting White Earth community engagement, Indigenous health education, and health workforce development.
• Communicate program outcomes, emerging needs, challenges, and recommendations to CAIMH leadership and relevant stakeholders.
• Use evaluation findings and stakeholder feedback to recommend modifications to programs and engagement strategies.

• BA/BS with at least 4 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal eight years
• Experience working with Waubun-Ogema-White Earth Schools education system
• Valid driver's license and ability to transit between locations in the White Earth community
• Strong knowledge of White Earth Nation, culture, and history
