Overview
Job Description We are seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer with over 8 years of experience in developing embedded software for connected or telematics devices. The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in C and C++, with a deep understanding of memory management, concurrency, and real-time constraints. Additionally, hands-on experience with Embedded Linux, including Yocto-based builds, kernel configuration, and system integration, is essential.
Responsibilities- Develop and optimize embedded software for connected or telematics devices.
- Implement and maintain wireless communication protocols such as Wi-Fi, Cellular/LTE, Bluetooth, and GPS.
- Integrate and configure Embedded Linux systems, including Yocto-based builds.
- Optimize software design for low-power, battery-operated systems.
- Work with vehicle or industrial buses like CAN and RS-485.
- Follow software development best practices including version control, continuous integration, code reviews, and issue tracking.
- Collaborate effectively within a team, providing clear technical communication.
- Contribute to the implementation of device security, secure boot, or over-the-air (OTA) update frameworks.
- Engage in hardware bring-up and debugging using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or JTAG.
- 8+ years of experience in embedded software development for connected or telematics devices.
- Proficiency in C and C++.
- Experience with Embedded Linux and Yocto-based builds.
- Strong understanding of low-power design principles.
- Experience with wireless communication protocols and vehicle/industrial buses.
- Familiarity with software development best practices.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with RTOS or hybrid Linux/RTOS systems.
- Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for build automation or testing.
- Experience in regulated or safety-critical environments (e.g., automotive, transportation, or industrial controls).
- Familiarity with hardware bring-up, schematics, and debugging tools.
This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $72.00/hr.
