Position OverviewShadin Avionics is seeking a highly experienced Sr. Software Engineer & Team Lead to lead the development, execution, and testing of embedded software solutions in a highly regulated aerospace environment. This individual will provide both technical leadership and people leadership, guiding a team of software development and test engineers while contributing directly to the design and certification of next-generation avionics products.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software development and software test engineers.
- Plan, resource, and execute engineering projects to meet customer and business requirements.
- Develop embedded software and firmware for avionics systems using C and assembly language.
- Manage software development activities in accordance with DO-178 processes, including requirements traceability, coding standards, verification, and certification support.
- Drive project schedules, optimize engineering resources, and remove obstacles impacting execution.
- Ensure software quality, reliability, and compliance with aerospace standards and customer expectations.
- Support FAA certification efforts and documentation required for product releases.
- Participate in software architecture development, proposal generation, and requirements definition.
- Collaborate closely with systems, hardware, quality, and program management teams to deliver innovative aerospace solutions.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience within a regulated industry such as aerospace, defense, medical device, or automotive.
- Prior experience leading engineering teams, projects, or technical development efforts.
- Strong embedded software development experience, including C programming and firmware development.
- Experience with aerospace standards and technologies such as:
- DO-178
- DO-254
- ARINC 429
- DO-160
- Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS and familiarity with LDRA tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership responsibilities with hands‑on technical execution.
