Software Development Engineer, AWS

• Design, implement and maintain the services you deliver.
• Develop automated solutions across a variety of applications and systems.

• Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Write high quality distributed system software.
• Work in an agile, startup‑like development environment.
• Collaborate with Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast roll‑out of new designs and products.
• Use data to measure success and prevent faults from impacting customers.
• Apply strong problem‑solving skills, scope solutions, and drive cross‑team collaboration.
• Contribute to documentation of process and procedures.
• Help team members grow and achieve their best.
• Take ownership, consider trade‑offs, and use expertise to ensure the job gets done.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation with your team.

• Work in a 24x7 on‑call rotation, with ability to drive into the workplace for critical events.
• Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
• Sit at the computer during scheduled work hours, with appropriate breaks while maintaining alertness.
• Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed.

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineering or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
