Senior Backend Engineer

As the company grows, they re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design and build the backend systems that power secure, reliable financial transactions.

In this role, you ll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend services that support the company s payment ecosystem. You ll work closely with engineering leadership to build highly available, scalable systems that process financial transactions accurately and securely.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and develop backend services that support payment processing and money movement.
• Build and maintain integrations with banking partners and third-party payment providers.
• Develop reliable financial systems for transaction tracking, reconciliation, and account balancing.
• Ensure the integrity, security, and accuracy of payment data throughout the platform.
• Create internal tools that improve payment operations and customer servicing workflows.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability as transaction volume continues to grow.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and leadership to deliver new platform capabilities.
• Implement best practices around testing, monitoring, and fault tolerance for mission-critical services.

• Several years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Strong experience developing backend applications using Type Script and modern server-side frameworks.
• Previous experience working within the financial technology industry or another highly regulated environment.
• Solid understanding of electronic payment processing, banking integrations, or financial transaction systems.
• Experience building scalable APIs and distributed backend services.
• Strong knowledge of database design, transaction consistency, and data reliability.
• Familiarity with secure application development and protecting sensitive financial information.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems while maintaining high engineering standards.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

• Experience supporting lending, consumer finance, or credit-based financial products.
• Knowledge of ACH processing, electronic funds transfers, or banking transaction workflows.
• Familiarity with financial reconciliation processes and ledger-based systems.
• Experience working in fast-paced startup or high-growth technology environments.
