We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Software Engineer to join a collaborative Agile development team supporting enterprise-scale applications and services. This role is ideal for a software engineer who is passionate about building scalable, cloud-based solutions using modern technologies including Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS, and SQL/No

SQL databases.

As a key contributor, you will participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex business challenges.

The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on coding experience with architectural thinking, a commitment to Test-Driven Development (TDD), and a passion for continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

This opportunity is open to individuals located in the Minneapolis, MN and/or surrounding areas.

Contractors will be engaged and paid by BCforward, which will serve as the employer of record for tax and compliance purposes.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java-based applications and microservices.
• Follow Agile development principles and actively participate in sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.
• Review functional and technical requirements, validate acceptance criteria, and ensure quality delivery before QA handoff.
• Contribute to technical solution design and architecture discussions for new features and enhancements.
• Participate in pair programming, peer reviews, and collaborative problem-solving activities.
• Take initiative to identify technical improvements and implement creative solutions for complex engineering challenges.
• Continuously improve code quality through automated testing, refactoring, and adherence to development standards.
