Salary Range: Entry rate is approx. $36.30 - $40.45/hr

Position Details- Employment type:
Full-time (40 hrs/wk) position, subject to on-call, overtime, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays. - Travel is required to and may remain at job sites for extended periods, sometimes for days or weeks, in the designated seniority region.
- Residence:
Maintenance of Way employees must reside within their hired district for the duration of employment.
- Track Maintenance Repair and Installation: repair and rebuild railroad track and perform maintenance such as removing spikes, cutting, welding, or drilling rail; maintain a clean right of way by removing hazards.
- Maintain Track-bed: manually compress ballast, remove/install ties, replace, cut, and adjust rail; lift and carry materials with assistance.
- Operate Equipment: use power hand tools (electric, pneumatic, hydraulic) and non-powered hand tools.
- Truck Driver and Maintenance: operate 26K+ lb trucks and ensure proper truck and equipment maintenance and record keeping.
- Welder: welding, grinding, and cutting rail; follow BNSF welding procedures and maintain records and timesheets; operate welding trucks safely and manage fire risk; may include ordering materials.
- Daily work in a safety-sensitive environment with exposure to varied and extreme weather, uneven surfaces, loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
Basic Qualifications
- Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization.
- Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now and in the future.
- Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
- Able to work safely in the listed working conditions and shifts and meet travel requirements.
- Able to read, write and communicate in English.
- Able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs occasionally.
- Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Able to visually distinguish colors (red, blue, green, yellow, and lunar/clear).
- Ability to differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds and understand verbal communication in the work environment.
- Able to use hands to perform holding, grasping, turning, and pulling activities.
- Bend, walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; occasionally climb on/off equipment; use hand tools.
- Comply with safety policies, procedures, and rules, including wearing required PPE.
- Maintain residency within the hired district or within 50 miles of a designated BNSF depot serving that district.
