Position Overview
The Street Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in performing routine and emergency maintenance, repair, and upkeep of streets, parking lots, curbs, sidewalks, and trail systems. This position emphasizes strong teamwork, a positive and service-oriented attitude, and a high level of pride in delivering quality work. Expected Hours of WorkHours are typically Monday-Friday from 7 am to 3 pm. In addition to working hours, staff may be required to work additional events, including participation in scheduled rotation of stand‑by duties.
Hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position does not have employee supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications- 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid MN Commercial Class A driver’s license, or ability to obtain within 12 months of start date.
- Ability to operate computer.
- Ability to operate equipment, acquire licenses, and complete trainings required for this position.
- Ability to complete the essential duties and responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Experience with safe operation and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and both heavy and light construction and maintenance equipment.
- Two years street maintenance experience, including paving, concrete, and equipment maintenance.
- Experience working in other divisions of municipal Public Works (Parks, Utilities, and/or Vehicle Maintenance).

Work is most often conducted outdoors, often under adverse and extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hazardous conditions, including operating power tools and equipment, and toxic materials, including raw sewage, garbage, landscaping chemicals, and hot asphalt. Employee is subject to noise while operating equipment and general noises in outdoor city environments.
