Plant Controller

Job Overview

This role provides comprehensive accounting support for the production facility, covering cost accounting, inventory control, accounts payable, payroll, billing, and the preparation of plant financial and control reports.

• Operations Teamwork
  :
  Participate in plant management meetings and core product review meetings, assist plant management in preparing quarterly review graphs and routine items, support operation improvement activities, provide SAP, ADC, and other system training and support, identify opportunities outside traditional scope, and collaborate with purchasing and maintenance to reduce inventory balances and free up capital.
• Controllership
  :
  Protect company assets, reconcile and accurately value inventory balances per corporate policy, ensure compliance with SOX and annual internal audits, administer Internal Order for capital and expense projects, adhere to GAAP, audit payroll distribution, and routinely review general ledger accounts for consistency and accuracy.
• Cost Accounting
  :
  Administer BOM audits and corrections, distribute material and labor variances to plant personnel daily, report variances to plant and corporate personnel monthly, report monthly slow‑moving inventory to corporate, and spend time on the production floor to enhance process understanding.
• Human Resource Management
  :
  Effectively communicate with staff, manage staff performance, develop and cross‑train staff, and manage overtime.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and 5+ years of professional accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management, development, or project leadership.
• Knowledge of accounting software, contact management systems, inventory software, manufacturing software, and Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables and analytical tools.
• Solid understanding of cost accounting concepts.
• Preferred SAP experience.
• Solid mathematical and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires flexibility and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time and work well in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team‑oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

This position supervises the accounting team located at the plant. Supervisory duties include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

The role is primarily office‑based with intermittent exposure to the production plant environment, which may involve wet or humid conditions, extreme cold or heat, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, moderate to loud noise levels, and occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus, as well as frequent sitting, use of hands, and hearing are required.

Salary Range: $96,000 – $144,000. Relocation package available.
