Role DescriptionThe Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Spring Lake Park, MN. This role is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting activities, including preparing payroll and payroll returns, journal entries, maintaining general ledgers, reconciling bank and account balances, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes. The Staff Accountant will help prepare financial statements and reports, support tax preparation and compliance tasks, and ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulations.
The position also involves communicating with clients to obtain necessary documentation, resolving discrepancies, and providing clear explanations of accounting and tax matters. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with other team members to improve processes, support and contribute to maintaining accurate, organized financial records.
- Strong foundation in accounting principles, including experience with general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Payroll processing expert
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Quick Boooks and
- Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a client-focused approach and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work on-site in Spring Lake Park, MN, collaborate with a small team, and maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; eligibility or interest in pursuing CPA licensure is a plus.
- Prior experience in public accounting or a similar accounting role is required for highly motivated candidates with strong fundamentals
