Processes Motor Vehicle and DNR Transactions- Verifies customer identity, ownership documentation, insurance coverage, and other required eligibility documents.
- Calculates and collects applicable fees, taxes, and registration costs for license renewals, title transfers, registration changes, and other transactions in accordance with Minnesota statutes and Department of Public Safety requirements.
- Issues the appropriate license plates, registration validation stickers, permits, and related credentials.
- Accurately prepares, processes, and submits all required forms and documentation to the State of Minnesota.
- Conducts ownership and vehicle record verifications, identifies discrepancies, and resolves registration or calculation errors.
- Reviews customer documentation, exercises sound judgment when evaluating unusual or incomplete information, and determines appropriate action within established policies and procedures.
- Responds to customer inquiries by phone and in person regarding motor vehicle and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) licensing, registration, and related services.
- 1. Receives, processes, and accurately balances daily cash receipts, checks, credit card payments, and other transaction records.
- Prepares daily deposits and reconciles receipts with register totals and transaction records.
- Maintains accurate inventories of license plates, registration stickers, permits, and other controlled State-issued materials, and orders inventory as needed.
- Prepares and submits all required daily, monthly, and other periodic reports to the State of Minnesota in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintains complete and accurate financial and transaction records in accordance with State requirements and City policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, elected officials, and the public.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work assignments while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide courteous and professional service.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics, including the ability to accurately calculate, reconcile, and handle cash transactions.
- Strong data entry and keyboarding skills, including proficiency with 10-key data entry.
- Knowledge of State of Minnesota motor vehicle and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) laws, procedures, and licensing requirements, or the ability to obtain such knowledge.
- Ability to effectively resolve customer questions, concerns, and complaints with professionalism and tact.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
- Ability to read, interpret, and accurately enter information from computer screens, forms, and other written documents.
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of customer service experience.
- Experience using personal computers, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Associate degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, mathematics, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of experience in municipal government, a motor vehicle office, or a comparable public service environment.
- Two (2) years of experience processing cash transactions, balancing receipts, or performing financial reconciliations.
- Three (3) years of customer service experience in a high-volume environment.
