The IDB Group is a community of diverse, versatile, and passionate people who come together on a journey to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our people find purpose and do what they love in an inclusive, collaborative, agile, and rewarding environment.
About this position
The IDB Group is looking for an active graduate student to be hired as an intern under the Consultant modality.
The 2026 Summer Internship Program is a competitive paid opportunity, based in Headquarters, for university students from member countries to learn about development work and corporate management of the Bank, and to acquire work experience at the professional level through on-the-job learning.
You will work for PTI/PST. The Productivity, Trade, and Innovation (PTI) Sector is responsible for strengthening the competitiveness and productivity of Latin America and the Caribbean through financial and non-financial instruments that maximize trade integration, investments, technological innovation, and sustainable development in strategic, productive sectors. It supports countries in their transition to more dynamic, inclusive, and resilient economies.
The Productivity, Trade, and Innovation (PTI) Sector of the Vice-Presidency for Sectors and Knowledge (VPS) support Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) integration into the global economy and regional integration and cooperation through lending operations, technical assistance, and applied economic and sector work. Within PTI, the Private Sector, Synergies, and Trade Unit (PST) fosters international trade, investment, and private sector engagement through a series of programs and initiatives such as: (i) Connect Americas (CA);
(ii) the Americas Business Dialogue (ABD); and (iii) the BID for the Americas program, a Bank-wide program which PTI is coordinating at the Bank.
BID for the Americas is a program of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) designed to strengthen economic ties and expand business opportunities between LAC and companies across non-borrowing member countries (NBMC). The program consists of three pillars:
i) Procurement: We connect companies with more than 12,000+ IDB-financed contracts each year; ii) Trade and investment:
We help private sector firms from NBMC countries identify opportunities across the region's markets; and iii) Co-financing:
Through IDB Invest and IDB Lab, we support firms in mobilizing financing for projects across the region.
With the objective of enhancing NBMC companies' awareness and engagement in IDB procurement opportunities, BID for the Americas is implementing a renewed strategy for the procurement pillar, which leverages sector-specific expertise and companies' early engagement with IDB-financed opportunities.
What you'll do
* Provide technical, logistical support, communications, and research support to BID for the Americas for the implementation of its work and action plan to promote business opportunities between non-borrowing member countries and LAC through the IDB Group.
* Support BID for the Americas' team in the elaboration of business development material such as, but not limited to, talking points, presentations, briefs, and other written materials for the successful execution of the Program's activities and deliverables.
* Support the BID for the Americas team in developing and maintaining a comprehensive database of NBMC-based bidders' information sourced from national procurement portals across Latin America and the Caribbean, and other sources, to enable targeted outreach to potential bidders for IDB-financed projects, with a particular focus on infrastructure, energy, water & sanitation, and transportation sectors.
* Provide support to the BID for the Americas team in direct outreach to identified companies and support in the preparation of virtual sectorial webinars and in-person business meetings, to promote participation in IDB-financed projects.
* Design a six-month engagement plan to be implemented by the BID for the Americas team, aimed at strengthening and systematizing follow-up with institutions and…
