The Role:
Mechanical Construction Manager

As Mechanical Construction Manager, you will take full responsibility for the delivery of mechanical building services on a major data centre project. This is a site based leadership role where you will oversee mechanical works from coordination through installation and commissioning.

You will play a key role in ensuring that all HVAC and mechanical systems are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards, while managing subcontractors, resources and stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all mechanical construction activities on site, ensuring full compliance with health and safety standards
• Coordinate mechanical installations including HVAC, pipework and plant systems in line with programme milestones
• Prepare and implement method statements and risk assessments for all mechanical works
• Manage subcontractors and specialist suppliers to ensure quality and productivity targets are achieved
• Monitor programme delivery through short term planning including two week look ahead schedules
• Oversee procurement of mechanical equipment and subcontract packages in line with project requirements
• Support commercial activities including variations, valuations and final account contributions
• Maintain strong communication with the client, consultants and wider project team
• Ensure all works are delivered in line with project specifications and quality standards

About You

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or strong trade background with progression into management
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager or Mechanical Project Manager on large scale construction projects
• Strong background in HVAC systems, pipework and mechanical installations
• Experience working on data centre or other mission critical projects is highly desirable
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and subcontractors on site
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing costs and variations
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high performance construction environment
• Strong communication and organisational skills with a focus on delivering to programme
