Job Summary

The Civil Technician II is responsible for performing advanced general construction activities on wireless telecommunications sites and related infrastructure, including the site layout, foundation, grounding, laying conduit and fiber, and general landscaping. This position demonstrates increased technical proficiency and plays a key role in ensuring project safety, quality, and timely completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with site layout for cell tower construction, including electrical and telecommunications infrastructure, with limited supervision
  • Use hand and power tools to complete site work, including trenching, concrete placement, rebar installation, and grading/land clearing
  • Install and connect jumpers and cables to ground equipment, ensuring proper routing and secure connections
  • Construct and tie rebar cages for foundations and other concrete structures in accordance with project specifications
  • Capture and document site progress through photographs, supporting project tracking and reporting requirements
  • Perform advanced tasks such as weatherproofing, fiber testing, and other various testing
  • Develop the ability to interpret construction drawings, RF datasheets, and scopes of work
  • Follow Company and industry safety practices
  • Accurately complete timecards, safety checklists, and other documentation
  • Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring all tools, materials, and waste are properly handled and disposed of
  • Train and mentor less experienced team members
  • Travel regularly to job sites, which may include overnight stays
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

Education

High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education

Experience
  • One to two years of experience in wireless telecommunications construction experience
  • Demonstrated ability to perform general construction site work and minor electrical work safely and efficiently
  • Experience leading portions of projects or working independently on site
  • Must have or obtain and maintain OSHA 10 Construction Training Card (OSHA 30 preferred)
  • Must have or obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification
  • Other relevant certifications may be required per the scope of work being performed (i.e. Hazcom Certification, Blood Born Pathogen Certification, RF Safety Certification etc.)
Technical Skills
  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Basic mathematical skills and calculation ability
  • Familiarity with RF testing equipment; assists with cable and antenna system testing under supervision
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and follow customer specifications with limited supervision
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators and skid steers
  • Competence with GPS, test equipment, and site audit tools
