Doherty career solutions is partnering with a strong and growing manufacturing company in Winsted, MN as they search for a Drafting Manager to join the team! The Drafting Manager is responsible for leading the drafting team through planning and execution of converting product designs to shop drawings and customer submittal packages. Responsible for high-quality details and drawings supporting Supply Chain and Production execution and efficiency, promoting standardization and limiting variation.
The salary for this role is $90, depending upon experience. The role is fully onsite, and applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or assume sponsorship of employment visas at this time.
Roles and Responsibilities as a Drafting Manager
- Provide leadership, management, and accountability.
- Manage compliance of customer submittal drawing processes.
- Maintain industry‑standard knowledge base.
- Display strong leadership, team building, project management and delegation skills.
- Develop and standardize effective drafting and detailing processes.
- Hire, develop, train, and build a high‑performing team that aligns with established drafting and engineering standards and collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations for effective process execution.
- Minimize quality escapes that could lead to defective materials or customer field issues.
- Communicate directly with internal and external customers with a positive attitude and solution‑oriented mindset.
- Proactively advocate internally for solutions and manage efficient and effective workflow.
- Initiate and drive towards 5% year‑over‑year efficiency gain.
- Associate’s degree in CAD or a closely related technical field.
- At least three (3) years of experience leading a team in a technical field.
- Expert knowledge and at least five (5) years of experience in CAD software, preferably Solid Works.
- Expert knowledge in understanding and interpreting mechanical, structural, and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Effective knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Contributor to problem‑solving activities within a team environment.
- Professional and detail oriented.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Exceptional math skills, including fractions, decimals, geometry, and algebraic concepts.
- Collaborative approach in team and individual settings.
- Data‑driven mindset with an aptitude for growth and technology.
