Practice Specifics
We are expanding our medical team to practice Internal Medicine and Pediatrics as part of a collaborative group that includes nurse practitioners. Two state‑of‑the‑art facilities host our services: a 24‑exam‑room clinic in Grand Rapids and an 18‑exam‑room clinic in Deer River.
ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive care to patients of all ages, focusing on preventive care, acute and chronic disease management, and transition of care for adolescents into adulthood. Serve a diverse rural population including underserved communities, patients from treatment centers, residents on reservations, and local residents.
Work at Grand Rapids and/or Deer River clinics. Lead the clinic team, collaborate closely with the Deer River team (approximately 20 minutes away), and provide physician‑led practice leadership.
Optional hospitalist coverage: 7‑day stretch every 6 weeks (happening at Essentia Health Deer River Hospital, a modern 20‑bed critical access facility with 24/7 ER coverage and nurse triage). Coverage periods can be adjusted.
Perform additional procedures such as colposcopies, endoscopies, stress tests, EGD, and other interests, and utilize EPIC electronic medical record system.
QualificationsBoard Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine; qualified to practice Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
Commitment of 0.6 – 1.0 FTE.
LocationGrand Rapids, Minnesota – community of 11,000 residents with a service area of ~45,000, positioned 80 miles northwest of Duluth and 175 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Deer River, Itasca County – a gateway to Chippewa National Forest, with a population of 887 and a service area of 30,808.
CompensationSalary range: $276,000 – $339,109. Eligible for bonuses, quality incentives, or production‑based compensation.
