Position Overview
* Byron High School is seeking a full-time Math Teacher for the school year and beyond.
* This position may have an emphasis on geometry.
* The ideal candidate
* Have a working knowledge of and understanding of the Minnesota State Standards, classroom management techniques, current research in best practices and strategies, as well as knowledge of students' learning styles and needs.
* Teach students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving for the 21st Century.
* Collaborate with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students, and work with the department in a PLC setting.
* Assess students' developmental, cognitive, and social needs and provide developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs.
* Create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and highly engaging, and include the Building Thinking Classrooms concept.
* Collaborate and communicate regularly with families and use family and community resources to support learning.
* Assess own instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process.
Teaching Responsibilities
* Teach math courses, which may include:
* Geometry
* Accel Geometry
* Intermediate Algebra
* Algebra 2
* Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Minnesota state standards and incorporate the Building Thinking Classrooms concepts.
Qualifications
* Valid Minnesota Teaching License required
