The Building Substitute Teacher will be a key member of the WHA team and will require flexibility and the ability to work in assorted settings as a substitute teacher. Building Substitutes provide classroom coverage as assigned when the regular teachers are absent. This is a 177 eight hour day inclusive of lunch position.
Salary:
Minimum $34,515 depending on qualifications, plus benefits
Job Description:
- Facilitate lessons that inspire students to be engaged in their learning
- Carry out the instructional program as planned by the teacher
- Plan lessons when in long-term sub positions
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
- Gather/track data and grade students when in long-term sub positions
- Abide by IEP and 504 plans; support students who receive special education services
- Maintains organized and structured classroom management
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, administration, and other employees
- Treats sensitive situations with discretion in the classroom, maintains confidentiality, and empathizes with students
- Assumes professional responsibility
- Additional supervision duties may include lunch or recess supervision, bus loading/unloading, arrival and dismissal assistance, monitoring students in hallways
- Be a positive influence on all staff and students
- Be timely and reliable
- Maintain a positive attitude and growth mindset
- Additional duties as assigned
- Education required: BA/BS degree
- Certification/Licensure Required:
- Valid MN Short Call Substitute License
- MN Lifetime Substitute License
- Valid Tier 3 or Tier 4 MN teaching license
- Moving about building and grounds
- Able to get on and off the floor easily
- Comfortable handling toileting and grooming issues
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
