Discovery Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team as a shared staff member. This full‑time position will spend the majority of the day at Discovery Middle School and will teach one class at Alexandria Area High School. The ideal candidate will foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and academic growth. This position requires a commitment to promoting mathematical understanding and critical thinking skills among students in grades 6‑8.

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and state standards for middle school mathematics.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and class participation.
• Provide individualized support and intervention for students who may be struggling with mathematical concepts.
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages collaboration, respect, and a growth mindset among students.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and classroom activities.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in mathematics education.
• Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate cross‑curricular learning experiences.
• Organize and supervise math‑related extracurricular activities, such as math clubs or competitions.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
• Uphold the values and mission of Discovery Middle School in all interactions with students and the community.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in Mathematics for middle school grades.
• Proven experience teaching middle school mathematics preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts and instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate students in a diverse classroom setting.
• Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• A passion for teaching and a desire to make a positive impact on students’ lives.
