Requirements and Desired

Qualifications:

• Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent)
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture
• Previous experience in an educational setting or with student populations preferred
• Ability to interpret and transliterate in academic, social, and extracurricular settings
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility and adaptability within diverse school environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation services for students, teachers, and school staff during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities
• Foster positive relationships with students to encourage participation and learning
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure student needs are met
• Adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards in all interpreting situations
• Support students' language development and advocate for their communication needs
• Participate in team meetings and assist with the development of individualized education plans, as needed
