Essential Functions
Plans, prepares and organizes lesson plans, activities and curriculum to deliver Pre-K programs.
Organizes, prepares and sets up learning environments that enhance and support lesson plans; teaches and instructs
children in learning experiences, techniques and activities through modeling behaviors, play and activities consistent
with the goals of the program.
Meets and communicates with parents to discuss progress, observations, and potential needs to provide
recommendations, referrals or to answer questions they have about the program or curriculum.
Prepares and organizes calendars for curriculum purposes to keep parents informed of classroom topics and events;
writes newsletter.
Plans and participates in special events; assists with set up and clean up of events; helps plan and lead activities with
families.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of subject(s) taught; thorough knowledge of education principles, practices and procedures;
thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; thorough knowledge of community
education rules, regulations and procedures; general skill using standard office equipment and applicable hardware and
software; skill operating tools to maintain effective teaching; ability to create and maintain written and electronic files
with a high standard of accuracy; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to deliver articulate oral
presentations and written reports; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and
decimals; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents and other
community members.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in child development, education, or related field and minimal experience working in early childhood
development, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
