0 FTE Secondary School Social Worker

The Kasson-Mantorville School District No. 204 is seeking a Secondary School Social Worker who will serve students in grades 5-12 at Kasson-Mantorville Middle & High Schools.

Job Objective

The School Social Worker serves as a liaison between the home, school, and community to address barriers to student learning and support the social, emotional, and behavioral well‑being of students in the Kasson-Mantorville School District.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills
  • Experience working with youth in a school-based or community mental health setting.
  • Knowledge of community resources and social services available in Dodge County.
  • Bilingual skills.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Minnesota licensure as a Licensed School Social Worker (LSSW) or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or ability to obtain.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to special education, child welfare, and student rights.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Support students experiencing attendance concerns, emotional dysregulation, family instability, or school avoidance.
  • Provides individual and group counseling to students experiencing social‑emotional, behavioral, or family challenges that affect school performance.
  • Serves as a liaison between families, school staff, and community agencies to coordinate services and support for students and families.
  • Participates as a member of the Student Support Team (SST) and other school‑based support teams; provides consultation to teachers and staff on individual student needs.
  • Conducts psychosocial assessments as part of the special education evaluation process when assigned.
  • Collaborates with building administrators and counselors on crisis intervention, threat assessment, and student safety planning processes.
  • Develops and maintains referral networks to outside community and mental health resources; connects families to appropriate services.
  • Assists in the identification and reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with Minnesota Statute 626.556.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential case records and documentation in compliance with FERPA and district policies.
  • Participates in professional development and stays current on best practices in school social work.
  • Communicates regularly with building principals and the Director of Special Education regarding caseload and student needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal or Superintendent.

  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
