Community and School ContextThe Long Prairie‑Grey Eagle Public School is searching for an energetic bilingual paraprofessional who wants to make a difference in the lives of every student who walks through the doors. We are a small school located in central Minnesota, 1.5 hours from St. Cloud, 2 hours from the Twin Cities, 30 minutes for Alexandria, and 3 hours from Duluth. We are surrounded by lakes, parks, and one of the last Drive‑In movie theatres in Minnesota.
Our diverse community includes European, Mexican, Caribbean, and other nationalities. Sixty percent of our student population identifies as Hispanic. Todd County also hosts an active Amish population. We serve Grey Eagle, Burtrum, and Long Prairie.
Our district exceeds the state average in meeting student goals. Roughly a quarter of our Spanish‑speaking students are bilingual. We have family liaisons serving both at the secondary and elementary schools, providing translation services. We are an Achievement and Integration school which provides funds that support bilingual students in meeting both academic and social needs. We are committed to meeting the needs of all students and seek a team member to continue providing a world‑class education.
We believe in providing quality professional development and mentoring. Staff development days offer training, and we provide work time between quarters. We have one‑to‑one student devices with a technology coordinator, tech assistant, and a part‑time technology integrationist. We maintain a robust community education program with enrichment activities, classes, and opportunities before and after school. All students receive after school and summer programming.
We partner with local mental health providers for additional support. We value teaching the whole child and seek team members who share this philosophy.
