POSITION LOCATION:
Southwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC), with placement at the ELC Windom located in Windom, MN.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dean of Students assists the Site Administrator in the overall administration and support for educational learning center programs. The Dean of Students manages daily student behavior systems, crisis response, attendance, and family communication, freeing the Site Administrator to focus on evaluation, coaching, operations oversight, and compliance.
MAJOR
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Student Behavior Support (Primary Responsibility)
- Coordinate daily student management systems (behavior, crisis intervention, de-escalation).
- Support the implementation of PBIS.
- Monitor student behavior data collection and support progress monitoring.
- Student Attendance & Engagement
- Track daily attendance and follow up on chronic absenteeism, in collaboration with the School Counselor.
- Communicate regularly with families about attendance and engagement.
- Collaborate with transportation and placing districts as needed.
- Crisis Management & Coverage
- Lead crisis response during the school day; coordinate staff coverage.
- Assist with safety drills and building supervision.
- Handle immediate student issues so the Site Administrator can remain focused on instructional leadership.
- Family & Student Communication
- Communicate proactively with families about student behavior, progress, or concerns.
- Support positive relationship‑building with students and families.
- Serve as first point of contact for behavior-related inquiries.
- Staff Support
- Support paraprofessionals and teachers with day-to-day student needs.
- Provide feedback to the Site Administrator on building climate and student trends.
- Assist with para schedules, supervision assignments, and break coverage.
- Operational Support
- Manage arrival/dismissal, lunch supervision, hallway transitions.
- Support field trips, student programming, and duty schedules.
- Assist with documentation and data entry related to discipline, attendance, and crisis response.
- Contribute to the implementation and adherence of operational guidelines related to building organization, maintenance, security, student conduct, and food service.
- Support the administrator in overseeing day-to-day program operations while prioritizing hands‑on student engagement.
- Contribution to Instructional Environment
- Participate in team meetings as a student support lead.
- Support implementation of SEL and behavior curriculum components.
- Assist teachers with environmental setup or student planning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field required; master's degree preferred; considerable experience as a teacher with 5+ years of experience in education, special education preferred. Minnesota Licensure as a teacher is preferred; valid driver's license.
SALARY:
Full-time position to begin July 1, 2026. 220-day contract for school year with salary range of $75,208 - $101,450, depending on education, qualifications, abilities, and experience. The role includes excellent benefits.
