Assistant Principal (Grades 7-12) & MTSS Lead
Rush City Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educational leader to serve as our Assistant Principal for Grades 7-12 and District MTSS Lead. This position will primarily support students and staff in grades 7-12 through leadership in student behavior, attendance, school climate, discipline, restorative practices, and student support services while collaborating with district leaders to strengthen our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
The successful candidate will be a visible presence in the school, build strong relationships with students, families, and staff, and help ensure a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. In partnership with building and district leaders, this individual will also help coordinate district wide MTSS efforts, promote effective interventions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
Minnesota K-12 Principal License Demonstrated leadership experience in education Preferred:
Experience in school administration Experience with student discipline, behavior intervention, attendance improvement, and restorative practices Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Experience leading teams, facilitating professional development, and using data to improve student outcomes Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Student Support, Climate, and Behavior Leadership Serve as the primary administrator overseeing student behavior, attendance, and discipline for grades 7-12. Foster a positive, safe, and supportive school climate aligned with the district's mission, vision, and core values. Lead the implementation of restorative practices and positive behavior supports. Work collaboratively with students, families, counselors, teachers, and support staff to address student needs.
Coordinate attendance interventions and serve as a liaison with county agencies, SCRED, and community partners regarding attendance and truancy matters. Assist with supervision of students during school activities and events. Support crisis response, student safety initiatives, and school-wide behavior systems.
MTSS Leadership and Coordination Serve as the district lead for MTSS implementation in collaboration with building administrators, instructional leaders, special education staff, and the Elementary Dean of Students. Support the implementation and continuous improvement of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions. Assist schools in utilizing data to identify student needs and evaluate intervention effectiveness. Coordinate district MTSS meetings and support alignment of practices across grade levels.
Promote collaboration among staff, families, and community partners to improve student outcomes. Support Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) implementation district wide.
Instructional Leadership and Staff Support Support principals and district leaders in professional development initiatives. Assist with staff supervision, coaching, observations, and evaluation processes as assigned. Support the development and implementation of instructional strategies that improve student achievement. Promote current educational research, differentiated instruction, and evidence-based practices. Assist with training and support for paraprofessionals and other support staff. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations for all learners.
District Leadership Serve on district and building leadership teams and committees. Assist with grants, special projects, and strategic initiatives. Support summer programming and other district wide student support efforts. Collaborate with special education leadership and building administrators to ensure effective delivery of student services. Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary and Benefits Rush City Schools offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Salary Range:
Starting at $80,000+, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
