Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at King Elementary School for the 2026 Extended School Year (ESY) program. This position would be twice per week for one hour each day during the summer.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instruction in academic, social, and behavioral skills to students with disabilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction and interventions as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, IEP goals, and progress reports.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and needs.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of appropriate educational goals and objectives.
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and learning.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills development.
  • Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid state certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an elementary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
