Paraprofessional/Compass Group Leader
Hours per day: 3.25 hours Para/3-3.5 hours Compass Group Leader (9:30-5:00 pm (Approximate time) 1:30-2:00 Lunch)
Essential Functions
Assist classroom teacher with student by guiding and reinforcing lessons; explain instructions and assignments to students one-on-one or in small groups; give make-up tests and quizzes; collect and maintain data as directed by the teacher; assist classroom teacher with preparatory materials.
Assist in supporting classroom discipline; assist in implementing behavior management programs; assist with crisis intervention which may include physical restraints;
Assist the classroom teacher with student's IEP (Individual Education Plan) which may include swimming and adaptive physical education; assist with physical elements of hygiene, toileting, occupational therapy, feeding, clothing, diapering and transfers.
Supervise and monitor students on bus and playground, in study hall, locker room, lunchroom and hallways; inform teacher and/or principal of discipline problems; handle minor discipline situations according to district discipline guidelines; assist with behaviors and student needs during bus transportation of students.
Maintain communication with teacher regarding schedules, student progress and problem solving on a daily basis.
This position does not require a license, however, some of our paraprofessional positions require candidates to be considered "highly qualified" under the Code of Federal Regulations.
This status requires:
1) At least two years of college credits through an accredited institution of higher education; or
2) An associate's or higher degree; or
3) A passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment demonstrating the knowledge and ability to assist with instruction in reading/language arts, writing, mathematics or readiness for each.
Attend meetings and in-services as requested.
Paraprofessional Compensation: $21.70 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Compass Group Leader
Essential Functions:
- Provide participants with the appropriate leadership during the program.
- Follow and plan activities that incorporate program goals into the daily routine.
- Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for participants.
- Communicate with colleagues and parents as needed.
- Maintain a safe environment for participants.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Responsible for all activity and room preparations for the group.
Salary Range:
$17.34-$18.05
