Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services
This represents a broad grouping of diverse positions responsible for providing direct individualized behavioral interventions services to students; collaborating to plan and lead staff development. Incumbents also participate and collaborate with other instructional professionals, administrators, parents, and other district personnel concerning student needs, issues and district learning initiatives, curriculum and building issues.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide direct individualized intervention services to Tier 2 and 3 students
Building Leadership
Perform other duties as assigned or requested, including attending professional development/meetings, in-services and workshops.
Work Requirements and CharacteristicsEducation/Certification/Licensure:
- Current and appropriate MN teaching license in Elementary Education or Special Education
- Reading license/endorsement preferred
- Master's Degree preferred
Experience:
- 5 years of classroom or SPED teaching experience required
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Position requires exercising confidentiality in handling district information.
- Support and communicate effectively with colleagues, including administrators
- Demonstrate skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
- Knowledge of reading and math interventions (i.e. Wilson Reading System, Orton Gillingham, Sonday, AVMR)
- Deep knowledge of curriculum design and instructional strategies, quality instructional practices, professional development, student data analysis, assessment practices and staff training techniques
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices, and Software:
- Utilizes various software applications
- Operates computer, printer, copy machine and other electronic or technological equipment required for the specific position
- Uses Gmail to receive district communication
Supervision of Other Employees:
- Instructional paraprofessional(s) may report to this position
Physical
Job Requirements:
- Position involves responding to changing technology
- Extended periods of standing when teaching and sitting during meetings and desk work
- Repetitive motion keyboarding activities for classroom preparation or grading
- Extended periods of speaking and/or voice projection
- May lift equipment or supplies up to 25 lbs.
- Bending, stooping, or sitting on the floor to perform classroom activities or to provide one-to-one assistance

Job Requirements:
- Position requires prioritizing work duties, organizing classroom settings and taking the initiative to explore new activities and ideas to enhance student learning
- Position requires conflict resolution and the need to effectively present information to peers, students, parents and colleagues
- Position involves analyzing and interpreting course text and professional materials
- Position includes the need to respond to concerns or requests from parents and community members in a timely manner
Working Conditions:
- Duties are generally performed in a typical classroom/school setting which typically includes moderate noise from students, computers and other work-related equipment
- Work may also be performed where there are minimal environmental hazards and risks
- Employee may be exposed occasionally to disagreeable conditions involving human/student/parental contact
- Work is occasionally performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Work may involve travel between buildings, within the building and work area
