Position DescriptionAs Kindergarten Specialist Teacher for Wayzata Public Schools, you will design and deliver instruction that ensures the success of a diverse population of learners. You will build positive relationships and collaborate with students, parents, and staff to foster a positive experience for the entire learning community. The position will work exclusively with kindergarten students in music, art, physical education, and technology.
KnowledgeQualifications
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Deep knowledge of elementary pedagogy.
- Understanding of social, emotional, and behavioral development and acquisition.
- Understanding of school‑wide assessments.
- Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Record‑keeping principles.
- Computer proficiency and related software applications.
- Ability to build strong and positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Managing classroom behavior.
- Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated strategies that support diverse learners.
- Ability to calmly and effectively deal with a variety of unexpected circumstances.
- Proficiency with current technology used to support communication, academics, and student progress monitoring.
- Organization and implementation of school‑wide testing protocols.
- Maintaining applicable student records to demonstrate improvement in behavior.
- Applying local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Preparing and maintaining records and reports.
- Operating a computer and applicable software applications.
- Communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
- High student achievement.
- Instructional technology – increased computers and other technology.
