Description:
High School Special Education Teacher (ABS/DCD) CLHS is seeking a caring, student-centered Special Education Teacher licensed in ABS (Academic and Behavioral Strategist) or DCD (Developmental Cognitive Disabilities) to join our high school team serving students in grades 9-12. This position focuses on supporting students with diverse academic, behavioral, functional, and social-emotional needs in a highly collaborative environment. The ideal candidate values relationships, maintains high expectations for students, and works closely with staff and families to help students grow both academically and personally.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing specialized instruction and support for students receiving special education services
- Developing and implementing IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Supporting students in developing academic, functional, behavioral, and transition skills
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining appropriate documentation
- Creating a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
Qualifications:
Current Minnesota teaching license in ABS, DCD, or ability to obtain appropriate licensure
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Commitment to inclusive practices and student success
Preferred:
Experience working with high school students
Knowledge of transition planning and functional skill development
Experience supporting students with behavioral and emotional needs
