Location: Breckenridge
Student Success & Postsecondary Coordinator (Grades 7-12)
Summary of duties:
The Student Success & Career Advisor works with 7-12 students in three main areas:
Academic Planning & Scheduling, College, Career & Postsecondary Readiness, Student Support & Resource Coordination (
Note:
This position focuses on academic, career, and logistical support. Clinical or licensed mental health counseling is not within the scope of this role.)
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist students with course selection, scheduling, registration, and credit tracking toward graduation.
- Guide students through college admissions, FAFSA/financial aid, scholarships, military options, and employment opportunities.
- Direct and monitor School-to-Work, Teacher's Aide, and work-based learning programs.
- Learn and support key school initiatives, including On To College , Direct Admissions, MTSS, and Junior Educators in Training.
- Coordinate with administrators, teachers, and special education teams to identify learning needs and support dropout prevention efforts.
- Connect students and families with community mental health resources, outside services, and emergency supports when needed.
- Serve as an accessible, supportive adult to help students build self-advocacy, maturity, and strong academic habits.
- Encourage parental involvement and maintain open communication regarding academic progress and postsecondary plans.
- Knowledge of high school graduation standards and postsecondary eligibility requirements.
- Familiarity with college admissions, trade/apprenticeship pathways, and local career opportunities.
- Knowledge of positive behavior strategies and non-clinical academic interventions.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and community partners.
- Successful prior teaching experience is desired.
- Valid MN Teaching License (any field)
