General Definition of Work
Performs professional work for Native American students and parents, interpreting, advocating , and serving as a liaison for the families.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Principal(s) and Superintendent.

Essential Functions
Serves as an advocate for Indian students and families by:
- Provides tutoring for students in k-12 grades.
- Conducts conferences with students, parents or staff regarding student progress or academic concerns.
- Assists with the placement of students in alternative learning environments.
- Creates and maintains various records, reports, lists and forms for student use.
- Provides college, career, tribal and cultural information for Indian students.
- Writes and maintains local, state and federal reports for the Indian education program.
- Attends local Indian education parent committee meetings.
- Serves as the Native Club advisor.
- Facilitates and participates in the writing of grants for program funding.
- Provides tutoring programs for students grades k-6 during school time and after school; provides study time for students grades k-12.
- Assists Indian students in planning academic enrollments.
- Dispenses funds for Local Indian Education Committee; budgets for program funding.
- Participates in the completion of mandated state and federal reports.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Some knowledge of district policies, manuals, programs, processes and procedures; some knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment; some knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; some knowledge of Indian culture; some knowledge of federal program rules, policies, procedures and regulations of Title VII Indian Education Programs; some skill operating standard office equipment, personal computer and applicable hardware and software;
some skill performing data entry on web-based forms; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to create and maintain files, records, reports and databases in a timely and effective manner both electronically and on paper; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages;
ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; ability to participate in Indian Education Program budgeting procedure; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written formats; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, teachers, employees and the general public.
Education and Experience
Associates/Technical degree with coursework in social science, social work, psychology, or a related field and moderate experience social science, social work, psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Physical Requirements
